As a Business Leader at Schmidt Family Office™, Amy leads all finance and human-resource operations, aligning people, processes, and operations to strengthen the client experience.
Industry Experience
Amy has been working in the financial services industry for over 20 years; her early career spanned retail and commercial banking, including lending, wealth and branch management. To expand her knowledge, Amy moved into the Finance department. While working in Finance, Amy was introduced to the Human Resources side of the business and instantly found her passion zone. Amy started as a Human Resources generalist, then specialized in recruitment; she honed her skills in organizational culture, earning her Culture Certification and is pleased to continue growing her expertise among the talented SIG team.
Human Resources is a space where Amy provides value directly to the team, which in turn extends exceptional service-oriented relationships to clients.
Simplifying wealth and the social impact model of the business with Expand Hope spoke directly to Amy’s heart and mind. It is an honour to serve and support the team members who are genuinely impacting generations of families.
Designations & Degrees
Amy holds her Master of Business Administration (MBA), with a focus on Human Resources, concentrating on compensation management, performance management, and recruitment. She also has completed her Bachelor of Management degree from the University of Lethbridge with a major in human Resources and Industrial Relations; she also holds a Business Diploma from MacEwan University. Amy earned and has held her Chartered Professional in Human Recourses designation in good standing since 2013. In addition, she is designated as a Senior Certified Professional from the Society for Human Resource Management.
Boards & Councils
Amy has supported her local community league by sitting on the board of directors. She has also held board positions with the Alberta Cheerleading Association in various roles.
Amy believes “we rise by lifting others,” this motto brought forward her desire to invest in her community via the board of directors. Beyond routine administrative duties, Amy has planned many family-friendly events for her community members.
Volunteering
Amy has been volunteering for as far back as she can remember. Starting in primary school, she was a school patrol. Amy went on throughout school to serve on the Students’ Council, managing fundraisers for many charitable organizations, starting a Youth Centre, giving time to local talent competitions and coaching cheerleading to various age groups.
Girl Guides of Canada is where Amy donates the majority of her volunteer hours. As a Unit Leader, she is passionate about empowering young girls and supporting their skill development. Amy finds joy in witnessing the personal growth, achievements and courage girls in the program gain.
Accomplishments & Accolades
Amy was selected as a member of the inaugural Emerging Leaders Program through the Alberta Credit Union System. The program spans three years and is focused on further developing leadership skills in individuals recognized as change-makers in the industry.
The Girl Guides of Canada acknowledges individuals for their contributions; Amy has received the following: Letter of Commendation, Bronze Unit Guider Award and Team Award.
Outside of the Office
Amy cherishes her family and is a proud mother of four outstanding individuals; she adores their zest for life and natural curiosity. Camping is one of her favourite past times with her family.
Amy also enjoys expanding her mind through books, documentaries and courses; continually learning brings her happiness.
